A house in Brazil has been given a fresh new interior design that relies on a handful of key colours and contemporary typography.
DTE Studio breathed new life into Itaim Vila House in Sao Paulo with a cool-coloured scheme with sophisticated lighting.
Icy turquoise is the strongest shade in this house’s palette and it looks fantastic in small doses, in key areas such as the fridge, chairs, and cushions, while the concrete floor has a gorgeous rough scratched effect.
This coolness is counterbalanced by the rich chocolate brown furniture, which looks luxurious in leather and velvet, while the brick walls, which remain exposed throughout the home, add texture and warmth.
Shape is another important factor in this design: the furniture is all about strong, straight edges (even the cushions are square), with clean lines giving the scheme an ordered simplicity.
Typography recurs throughout the home, appearing on cushions and pillows to provide a bit of edge to traditional pieces, but the stand out has to be the turquoise type on the lounge wall. ‘All you need is love’ enhances the on-trend feel of the house, but also helps its homely atmosphere, which could otherwise get lost amongst the structure.
